The Master of Science in Nursing (M.Sc Nursing) – First Year is designed to build advanced knowledge and professional competence in specialized areas of nursing. This year emphasizes theoretical depth, evidence-based practice, research skills, and advanced clinical expertise.
One of the core subjects is Advanced Nursing Practice, which enhances understanding of complex health conditions, advanced assessment skills, clinical decision-making, and comprehensive patient care. Students learn to apply advanced nursing theories and models in specialized settings.
Nursing Education is another important subject. It focuses on teaching methodologies, curriculum planning, evaluation techniques, educational technology, and student guidance. This prepares students for roles as nurse educators in colleges and training institutions.
Nursing Research and Statistics plays a central role in the first year. Students learn research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, statistical analysis, and ethical considerations in research. They begin developing their research proposal, which will later be completed as a dissertation.
Nursing Management and Leadership is also included to develop administrative and supervisory skills. Students study healthcare management principles, quality assurance, budgeting, staffing, and policy development.
In addition to core subjects, students begin specialization in areas such as Medical-Surgical Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, or Community Health Nursing. Clinical postings are conducted in the chosen specialty to strengthen practical expertise.
